The researcher almost always begins from the standpoint of, “I don’t know,” and quickly follows that up with, “so let’s find out.”

In my career as a user experience designer, I’ve had the opportunity to design and facilitate in-house qualitative studies as well as partner with third-party research companies for qualitative studies. I’ve also on occasion used our research partner’s online tools to conduct my own quant studies (mostly surveys) when circumstances required.
